Prairie Fairy Snowman

Sunday, December 27, 2009

Isn't this snowman just a cutie patootie?! It's a digi image from Prairie Fairy (artist Roberta Laliberte). Her store isn't quite open yet but it will be soon. This snowman is a freebie you can get on her blog here. Based on the sneak peeks, I think her images will be VERY popular!

I colored the image with Copics. The black buttons are brads and I used polar white Flower Soft on the snow pile and Sparkly Fluff on the hat pom-pon. The red snowflakes have a healthy amount of Diamond Dust and the ribbon is from my stash.

Motivet Challenge 51

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

This is my entry for the challenge over on the Motivet blog. Check it out here.

I've used this image a lot lately, but I just love this little girl enjoying a snowfall! I colored the image with Copics and layered it on Papertrey Ink DP and cardstock. The flowers are great ones I found at Wild Orchid Crafts. I highly recommend them - tons of flowers in each pack and not too expensive (depending on the exchange rate!). The trim on her cape and the snow got a layer of Sparkly Fluff. You can't tell it from the picture, but the flowers got a healthy coating of Smooch Spritz to give them a nice sparkle.

Blog Candy

Caz has some great candy up for grabs - take a look and good luck!

Motivet Challenge 50

Monday, December 14, 2009

This is my entry for the week 50 Motivet challenge that you can find here. I colored her with Copics and used Nestabilities for the oval and the scalloped oval. The ribbon is from Michael's. I used Sparkly Fluff on the snow and the fir trim on her hat and cape.

Motivet Challenge

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

This is my entry for the latest challenge over at the Motivet blog. If you want to enter, click HERE.

I used the Girl in Snow stamp from Motivet and I just love her. I colored her with Copics and used two different DP from the Magnolia Christmas paper pack. The punched out snowflakes have a healthy layer of Diamond Dust and I also spritzed some Smooch Spritz on the pink oval layer for added shimmer. Her coat and cape are trimmed with Sparkly Fluff. This is the first time I've used those two products and I absolutely love them!

Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge

Friday, December 4, 2009

I created this Christmas fairy for the challenge over at Mo's Challenge Blog. I just love this image! I colored her with Copics and added Stickles to her holly wings and petticoat. I put Diamond Glaze on her snowglobe to make it look like glass.

Copic Creations Challenge

Tuesday, December 1, 2009

I'm new to Copics so I decided the best way to practice was to complete the challenges over at the Copic Creations blog. The challenge this time is to color an image with snow and/or snow people so I made this simple card:

You can't really tell from this picture but I stamped it twice and popped up the middle snowman for some dimension. There's not a whole lot of coloring on this image but it's only my second card using Copics so I guess it turned out ok. I know I have a ton more to learn about using Copics but I'm slowly getting better with practice. I tend to like my colors blended a little more than some of the cards I've seen on other blogs so there isn't as much of a contrast and it shows even less in pictures. But in real life you can see more of the contrast.

Thanks for visiting!

Motivet Challenge

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

Motivet has a challenge on their blog that I decided to enter for a chance to win some free stamps. I thought this image was so adorable that I've already made a few cards using it! This is my first card using Copics, too. I thought this image just begged for some dimension so I stamped it three times and popped up two layers:

Princess Cleo

Friday, May 29, 2009

Isn't Princess Cleo perfect with gold embossing powder?! I colored her with Prismacolor pencils and a little bit of Stickles under her eyes. I used the wonderful Inkssentials Foam Blending Tool and Sand Memento ink to give it a more weathered look (LOVE that tool!). What a cute princess and Pez-A-Doodle Designs has more princesses coming!!

Stamps: Princess Cleo
Inks/Coloring: Memento Sand, Prismacolor pencils
Tools: Inkssentials Foam Blending Tool, distressing tool

It's time for another Studio G challenge! This time it's a sketch challenge and you can find the details here. It's time to put to use all those cute little Studio G stamps you've been collecting but haven't been using. This is the card I made for the challenge and it was easy and fun. The SG stamps really do stamp well (as you can see!) and are just as easy to work with as more expensive stamps. Marti has some great candy up for the challenge winner so be sure you enter!

In Style Stamps Guest DT Call

Sunday, May 24, 2009

InStyle Stamps is having a contest to select guest design team members and this is my entry. I used their absolutely stylish stamp named Marti for my birthday card along with some fun retro-looking paper. I just love their stamps, especially their retro stamps! They stamp really well and the artwork is amazing! If you're interested in entering their contest to be a guest design team member for two months, head over to their blog for details.

On this card I colored the image with watercolor paints and an aqua brush. I then painted Glimmerz over part of her dress and added turquoise Stickles to the other part to make her look oh so glamorous! On her martini I added Crystal Lacquer to make it look like a real glass. Finally, I used a gold pen for her jewelry for some added bling. Both panels are popped up using dimenionals.

Stamps: Marti
Ink/Coloring: Black Tuxedo Memento, watercolor paint,
Tools: Aqua brush, dimensionals
Embellishments: Stickles, Glimmerz, Crystal Lacquer

Shimmery Bride

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

I just love this stamp, can you tell?! I've had a lot of requests for bride cards so I've been making them like crazy. This time I used Perfect Pearls on the dress and veil and sweet pea Flower Soft for the bouquet. It really shines and shimmers in real life!

***Pez-A-Doodle Designs has some AWESOME new products!! How about some Skittles with glitter in them?! Or a stamp that fits perfectly inside a Nestability?! Head on over and check out the fun new stuff!!***

Lacy Bride

Sunday, May 17, 2009

I just love this stamp by Rubber Romance and when I was looking through my ribbon drawer recently I ran across this lace and knew they would be great together. I just put double sided tape down the sides of her skirt then cut lengths of the lace ribbon to fit. As you can see I did five layers of the lace to cover her entire skirt.

I had to cut around the bouquet area with craft knife so that I could slide the first row of lace underneath it. Then I added some sweet pea Flower Soft to the bouquet, added some gray colored pencil to the bodice of her dress and her veil, and I was done. I like the way she turned out and actually have made a few more of these to sell in a local gift store.

First Ever Scrapbook Page

Friday, May 15, 2009

I am NOT a scrapbooker. I repeat, I am not a scrapbooker (as I'm sure you can tell by the photo!). UGH! This was a hard challenge for me but that's what makes it a challenge, I guess. This is for the Studio G challenge on PCP (great prizes!). We had to make a scrapbook page using Studio G stamps. Using the SG stamps wasn't challenging, it was just figuring out what to do with all that space. So this is my lame attempt at my first (and last) scrapbook page! BTW, the photos will go where the two dark blue squares are - I didn't really want to splash photos of me in my swimsuit on the Internet!

There are TWO great prizes up for grabs this month so be sure to enter. One prize is for the most SG stamps used. I used 14 stamps on this page! Even if scrapbooking isn't your thing, head on over to see what the next challenge will be. They usually focus on card making and are super fun!

PDD Wednesday

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Ok, after this post you guys are probably going to think I'm crazy! I used a product that I've never used before and am just tickled with how easy it was. First of all, this card is very plain because it's part of a set of note cards for a friend who doesn't care for a lot of extras on her cards. But what I did for the first time was shade around the edges of the image. I've always been scared to do it because if it looked bad I would have to throw away all the work I had done coloring the image. Plus, all I had to work with before was sponges which, when I practiced with them, I always got blotchy results. But then I bought an Inkssentials Foam Blending Tool from Pez-A-Doodle Designs it makes a world of difference! It's SO EASY to work with and get good results. I know this card isn't perfect, but this was my very first try with this tool (and the paper is rough watercolor paper) so I know it's only going to get better and easier. The difference between this and using sponges is that only a little bit of color goes on at a time so it's easier to get an even amount of ink on the paper. I just LOVE it! If you don't already have one, you have to get this tool! I also bought the Inkssentials Ink Blending Replacement Foams so I can use them for different color inks.

***Now is a SUPER time to head over to Pez-A-Doodle Designs because they're having a clearance sale of some great items! Hurry - sale is limited to stock on hand! You can find the clearance page HERE***

Gardening Faerie - SC227

Friday, May 8, 2009

TGIF! That also means it's time for another PDD DT creation! I've gotten back into my stash of Pez-A-Blings (I have a hard time parting with the cuties) for this card. I also used Perfect Pearls and Stickles on her wings that also from PDD. I thought the image was perfect since everyone is getting out into their gardens this time of year!

Pezzy's Garden

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

This year I've been loving the combo of green, yellow, and orange for some reason. I've never been a particular fan of orange but I am just loving these three together. Since Pezzy's Garden is pretty whimsical, I decided to go a little wild with the colors! To add a little sparkle I used Perfect Pearls on the bee wings and Stickles on the bee.

Box Full of Smiles

Monday, May 4, 2009

I created a Box Full of Smiles today using SU! paper. When you take the lid off the box you see a mirror inside! So every time you look inside you see your own smile! I made it for sale at a local craft store.

Studio G Cupcake

Friday, May 1, 2009

This is my entry for the latest Studio G challenge - a clean, simple layout because I didn't want to overwhelm the cute little cupcake. It's hard to tell but I paper pieced the bottom of the cupcake then used Stickles for the frosting. I waited until the Stickles was half dry, then stuck my finger in it to rough it up a little so it had more texture and dimension.

Sparkly Bee Picnic

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

I really went crazy with this card! Stickles, Crystal Lacquer, Pez-A-Bling, Shimmerz ... you can't tell so much in the picture but it sparkles like crazy! I used the newly released Picnicin' Bee stamp from Pez-A-Doodle Designs - isn't he too cute?

Wishing You Well

Thursday, April 23, 2009

This is my card for the SCS sketch challenge. I used a Flower Soft stamp that, at first, I was a little scared to use. The flowers aren't real well defined so I was afraid that I wouldn't put the FS in the right spots. But I think it turned out well and actually having less definition for the flowers worked out better. It was fun and easy to do. I wish I had made the card a little shorter because it ended up looking a little plain, but everything is stuck down so there's no going back now!
In the closeup you can get a better view of the Flower Soft - LOVE that stuff! I got the stamp and the Flower Soft from one of the best stores out there: Pez-A-Doodle Designs. PDD now has a Flower Soft sampler kit if you're looking to get a variety of products and want them at a great price! You can find the sampler kit here.

New Releases!!

Sunday, April 12, 2009

It's almost here! Starting Monday, all my design team sisters and I will be giving you clues to help you guess the THREE new stamp releases from Pez-A-Doodle Designs! So how's it all going to work, you ask?

Instead of the typical sneak peeks where you get pictures of portions of our completed cards, we're going to use other things to give you hints. You might get a picture of something related to the stamp, a video, or some other kind of hint - you just never know what we have up our sleeves!

On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday you will receive hints about the first stamp to be revealed. On Thursday some of the DT members will then participate in a blog hop so you can see their creations with the new stamp.

On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday you will receive hints about the second stamp. On Sunday some of the DT members will then participate in a blog hop so you can see their creations with that new stamp.

And finally, on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday you will receive hints about the third stamp with a blog hop on Wednesday to reveal the final new stamp.

How FUN!! I'm super excited for all the festivities to begin and you never know, there just may be some prizes involved!

Be sure to check back here on Monday and I'll direct you to the first hint for the first stamp!

**Don't forget to head over to Pez-A-Doodle Designs and take a look at the BRAND NEW, COMPLETELY EXCLUSIVE new embellishments called Pez-A-Blings!**

Congratulations Bride

Friday, April 10, 2009

This is my entry for the SCS sketch challenge SC223. I like the clean layout of this one - something I don't do too often! Believe it or not, I used one of the cute Studio G stamps on this. It's difficult to tell in the picture but I painted the dress and veil with Perfect Pearls. It looks kind of gray in the picture but it's actually very pearly and shimmery in real life. And I can't get enough of the BRAND NEW Pez-A-Blings available ONLY at Pez-A-Doodle Designs!

I colored her softly with Prismacolor pencils, added some Diamond Stickles to her veil, and just had to add some Sweet Pea Flower Soft on her bouquet. Simple but I like the way it turned out.

**Be sure to stop back Monday - all my design sisters are gearing up for some NEW RELEASES from Pez-A-Doodle Designs!!**

Lilac Fairy

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

Happy PDD Wednesday!! My card for today features a Lilac Fairy stamp that I blinged up with Stickles and the brand new Pez-A-Bling embellishments! I absolutely LOVE these new little guys and the only place you can get them is at Pez-A-Doodle Designs. They come in tons of different colors, some are sparkly, and some are bigger than the ones on my card.

Aren't they great?! It's something different from all the round embellishments and add something unique to your creations. You can buy them by the color or as a mix of colors. Some of the mixes are made to specifically coordinate with certain DP! Go take a look at the website and see all the different ones you can buy!

And while you're out looking at those, please take a look at the blogs of my DT sisters listed on the right!

A Tisket, A Tasket, A Purple and Pink Basket

Friday, April 3, 2009

The latest challenge over at the Paper Craft Planet Studio G Collectors group is to create an Easter treat holder. Fun! I went the traditional route and created this Easter basket using a couple different Studio G sets. I really wanted to add some shine to it so I used tons of Stickles and also white opal Liquid Pearls, although it's hard to see the Liquid Pearls in the picture.

Now let's talk about Studio G stamps. The reason the Studio G Collectors group was started was to encourage people to actually USE their stamps instead of just COLLECT them. These cute little stamp sets are only about $1. You can't beat that price! Pez-A-Doodle Designs carries Studio G stamps and you can't beat the price or service.

For those of you who are hoarding these stamps but not using them, here are some tips that I find helps me get a good image every time:

* The first time I use one of the stamps, I clean it with water or an alcohol-free baby wipe and then use an eraser all over the surface of the stamp. I do this with every brand of stamp because it helps clean off any chemicals used to produce the stamp and primes it for use. I've also heard people say you can lightly sand the surface of the stamp.

* Although Memento dye ink is my favorite ink in general, pigment inks work best with Studio G stamps so I use Colorbox ink. I've also heard that people have success with Brilliance and Versamagic inks.

* I always use a stamping pad under my paper when I stamp (no matter what brand of stamp I'm using). This REALLY helps get a good, clean image every time you stamp.

* I always remind myself not to press too hard. I have a tendency to press too hard when I stamp and that's usually not a problem when using wood-mounted stamps, it makes it hard to get a clean image when using acrylic stamps. So be gentle!

Now go and use those Studio G's! I'm very stamping challenged so if I can have success with these stamps, so can you!

Be sure to check out the projects on the blogs of the other PDD DT members!! The links are on the right at the top of the page.

Lilac Tilda

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

Have I mentioned how much I love Flower Soft?! This image of Tilda holding lilacs just called out for it. I've been battling a bad cold lately so I was happy that this card came together quickly. Flower Soft is so easy to work with and, although it's hard to tell in the photos, I put a couple layers of it on so that there is a dimension to the lilacs. All you have to do is wait until the first layer is completely dry (I always wait overnight) and then you can put more glue on top of the first layer and sprinkle more FS on. The result is a dimensional, more realistic flower.

Pez-A-Doodle Designs has a great selection of Flower Soft and Stickles, which I also used on Tilda's shoes, bow, and wings. I've provided links to her store for these items (as well as the Memento ink - my FAVORITE) below in my recipe. Be sure to check out all the items in her store because she has super fast shipping and great service. Coming soon there will be some great new embellishments that you won't be able to find anywhere else. Stay tuned!

Pez-A-Doodle will also be releasing all NEW and EXCLUSIVE stamps in April so be sure to check back here often!

Today is the first day the new PDD DT gets to strut their stuff so please make sure you visit my DT sisters. All the links are to the right.

Studio G Easter Challenge

Sunday, March 29, 2009

Come join the fun and create an Easter treat holder using your Studio G stamps! All the details are here.

Studio G stamps are those cute little sets that you may have seen at Michael's or purchased from Pez-A-Doodle Designs for about $1 each. SOME people collect these little gems and then (gasp!) don't even use them much. Well, now it's time to get out those little darlings and use them to participate in a fun challenge! In fact, there's a whole series of challenges that inspire you to use your Studio G stamps (or discover them if you haven't purchased any yet).

So grab your ink, dust off those Studio G's, and let's get stamping!

Funky Farm

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Ok, so I went a little crazy with this card! I love to paper piece MFT stamps and I hadn't used this set for a while so I was going to color the animals but paper piece the woman. WELL, I started looking at my DP and wondered what it would be like to paper piece the animals with DP.

The cow and the pig are popped out on dimensionals and I made the pig's tail with a piece of pink wire. The sky was made with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and I tore then distressed the edge of the green paper to look like grass. The clouds are Magnolia stamps. The paper on the woman and the horse are Basic Grey, the paper on the pig is Memorybox, and I'm not sure about the paper on the cow. The card stock is all Bazzill.

I'm Doing the Happy Dance!

Do You Have PMS?

Sunday, March 15, 2009

I couldn't resist that title! Today I used a faerie stamp and sentiment stamp from Paper Makeup Stamps (PMS).

After I finished it I wished I would have used a border punch or something on the top of the box to give it a little extra touch, but it was already taped together. I painted the image with watercolor paints and added Stickles to her wings, even though you can't really see it in the pictures. I just love this image and the sentiment!
Thanks for stopping by!

You Oughta Be In Pictures

Friday, March 13, 2009

Ugh, this card gave me FITS from the very beginning! I liked the idea I had to use the negative strip to make it look like the mice already took some pictures, but it just did not turn out the way I wanted it to. Oh well.

I used Diamond Glaze on the lens and flashbulb and pink Stickles on the ears, noses, and tongue of the mice.

I stamped the design three extra times and popped up the lens so it looks like a true telephoto lens.

I took a stamped image and reduced it in size on my copier, colored the mice, and then cut them out and put them in the film strip.

I used Prismacolor pencils to color the images and Glitter Dots from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design.

When I saw the name of this stamp set (Hangin' With My Peeps), all I could think about was the marshmallow Peeps. It was just calling out to be the image for an Easter basket!

I colored the image with Prisma pencils then added pink flocking to her sweater and yellow flocking to the chicks to make them fuzzy. I created this for a challenge that required the use of buttons, so I added miscellaneous buttons in creme, pink, and green to the handle of the basket.

Thanks for visiting!

It's Raining!

Here's my latest card using a digital image from Squigglefly. I just love using their images because you can make them any size you need and they're all super fun to color. This poor little girl got caught in the rain but doesn't she have the cutest umbrella and raincoat? I used Stickles for the rain and puddle and they really shine IRL. I thought the designer paper was perfect because it looks like someone threw rocks in a puddle and caused rings in the water. I added three Dew Drops and some ribbon from Michael's to finish it off. A simple card but I really wanted the image to be the focal point.

Here's a closeup of the image that I colored with Prismacolor pencils and went over with a brush dipped in OMS to blend the color.
