It's Raining!

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Here's my latest card using a digital image from Squigglefly. I just love using their images because you can make them any size you need and they're all super fun to color. This poor little girl got caught in the rain but doesn't she have the cutest umbrella and raincoat? I used Stickles for the rain and puddle and they really shine IRL. I thought the designer paper was perfect because it looks like someone threw rocks in a puddle and caused rings in the water. I added three Dew Drops and some ribbon from Michael's to finish it off. A simple card but I really wanted the image to be the focal point.

Here's a closeup of the image that I colored with Prismacolor pencils and went over with a brush dipped in OMS to blend the color.

Deer Stationery for a Dear Friend

Sunday, February 15, 2009

My closest friend still loves to write letters...REAL letters...so I made her this stationery set that features deer stamps because she also loves hunting. This is the front cover of the stationery set that closes with a ribbon.

This is a close up of the name plate that I put on the front. Nothing too exciting but it took me FOREVER to line up everything (thank heavens her name is short!) so I'm showing a close up of it!

This is what the set looks like when you open it.

And here is a sheet of the stationery and one of the envelopes. I just used regular mailing envelopes and stamped a design in the corner so they would coordinate with the stationery.

Finally, I adhered a loop of coordinating ribbon in between the envelopes and the stationery and used it to attach a pen. I found some clear pens that are hollow so I rolled up a piece of brown paper and inserted it in the pen so even the pen matches!

Tilda Valentine

Friday, February 13, 2009

When I saw this Tilda stamp holding a bunch of hearts in her apron, I just knew I had to have it! I used nothing by Basic Grey paper and coordinating buttons. I colored the image with Prisma pencils.
I also felt that the image was crying out to be more 3D so I stamped her two more times and added a couple layers her arms and apron.

Sympathy Card

Sunday, February 8, 2009

I just love this sentiment and often use it for sympathy cards. I found the designer paper at Designer Digitals and was so happy because it's perfect; it has stars on it but it's not particularly patriotic or too cutesy for a sympathy card. I added the buttons, and Dew Drops, then stamped a PTI butterfly on vellum and folded up the wings.

Window Shopping with MFT!

When I saw this stamp set I knew I wanted to do something with different depths, just like she was actually standing at a window, dreaming about shoes! This is my version of a shadow box card. It's hard to tell in the pictures but the shoe display is inside the shadow box. I cut the square for the window then covered the opening with acetate so it would look like a real window. Then the woman is on top of the shadow box looking in the window. Confused yet?! Here's another picture that might help:

I used the awning from the Meet Me at the Cafe set and attached it so that it also sticks out from the card like a real awning would. The brick paper I created on the computer and printed onto gray Bazzill paper. All the patterned paper is from Basic Grey.

Cutie in the Garden

Thursday, February 5, 2009

I love buying digital images instead of stamps because they are less expensive and you can change the size of the images or even flip them around. I got this image from Squigglefly and think she's just too cute!

I used Scenic Route paper, some orange bling, Stickles for the water, 3D Lacquer for the watering can and tool, and Prismacolor pencils to color the image. I printed the image twice and cut out the flowers so I could pop them up on Pop Dots to give it a little bit of a 3D feel.
